A CLEAN, CONSISTENT FINISH

What is solid color epoxy?

Solid Color Epoxy Pigment is mixed into CR-531 Standard Epoxy to create a rich, uniform epoxy color coat. Unlike metallic epoxy, it is designed for consistent coverage and a clean, dependable finish.

Choose one color for a classic solid floor, use it as the base coat beneath a metallic design, or build it into a decorative chip-floor system.

Ideal for

  • Garage and basement floors
  • Workrooms and utility areas
  • Showrooms and retail interiors
  • Countertops and art projects
  • Base coats for metallic epoxy
  • Base coats for decorative chip floors

CHOOSE YOUR LOOK

One pigment. Several ways to build.

Your selected color sets the foundation. Keep it clean and classic as a finished solid floor, or use it to support a more decorative system.

01

Classic solid floor

A durable, even-color epoxy floor for interior spaces where a crisp, uniform finish is the goal.

02

Metallic base coat

Establishes the color foundation beneath your Liquid Nebula metallic epoxy coat.

03

Chip-floor base

Creates an opaque base for broadcasting decorative flakes into the wet epoxy.

BUILD THE COMPLETE SYSTEM

Great solid-color floors are built in layers.

Every layer has a job: create a clean, sound surface; add the color coat; then protect the finished floor for the way it will be used.

01

Prepare & profile

Clean, repair and properly profile sound concrete before coating. Paint, sealer, oil and contamination can prevent adhesion.

02

Mix the color

Add pigment to CR-531 Part A first and mix thoroughly on low speed. Then add the pre-measured Part B and mix completely, scraping the sides and bottom.

03

Apply evenly

Spread the epoxy uniformly while maintaining a wet edge. Use the appropriate squeegee and back-roll method for the desired build and follow the current Technical Data Sheet.

04

Protect the finish

Choose a compatible High Gloss Urethane or Matte Urethane for added scratch resistance. A UV-protective topcoat is required if the floor receives sunlight.

Important mixing note

Solid Color Epoxy Pigment is a colorant—not a complete floor coating. Mix one container into up to 3 gallons of CR-531 Part A, or until the desired opacity is reached. Do not use it with Epoxy Bond Coat.

USE THE RIGHT TOOLS

Tools that make the job easier.

Epoxy needs complete mixing, a consistent film build and a smooth finish. These tools make application more controlled and help you achieve an even color coat.

Helix Mixer

Mix the pigment, Part A and Part B thoroughly while helping reduce trapped air.

Notched Squeegee

Helps control the epoxy film build and spread material consistently across larger areas.

3/8" Roller Cover

Use a quality shedless roller to back-roll evenly and leave a smooth, consistent coating.

SOLID COLOR EPOXY FAQS

Before you start

Review the current Technical Data Sheet for every product in your system before beginning a project.

Can I use Solid Color Epoxy Pigment by itself?

No. It is a pigment and must be mixed into the appropriate epoxy layer. For a solid-color floor, it is mixed into CR-531 Standard Epoxy Part A before Part B is added.

How much pigment do I add?

Add one container of pigment to up to 3 gallons of CR-531 Part A, or until the desired opacity is achieved. Mix the pigment completely into Part A before adding Part B.

Can I add this pigment to Epoxy Bond Coat?

No. Solid Color Epoxy Pigment is not intended for use with Epoxy Bond Coat.

Does a solid-color epoxy floor need a topcoat?

A compatible urethane topcoat adds scratch resistance. A UV-protective topcoat is required when the finished floor will receive sunlight.
